Welcome to the RCNS

RCNS has been a staple of Richmond Village for nearly 50 years. We are a non-profit Co-operative pre-school, licensed by the Ministry of Education under the Child Care and Early Years act. We are inspected annually to ensure our school meets or exceeds Ministry regulations.

What is a Co-operative Nursery

As a co-operative, the nursery school is wholly owned and operated by our parent members as a non-profit organization. An Executive Committee, comprised of parents (past and present) and staff are elected or appointed annually. The Executive is responsible for operating the nursery school’s day to day operation including fund raising, volunteer organizing and special committee assignments and tasks. Parent are called to volunteer their efforts in various committees responsible for managing school facilities and other activities required by the executive.

Since 1975

The Richmond Co-operative Nursery School has been a valued member of the Richmond community since 1975. We have always been owned an operated by student parents in the Richmond community and continue to provide quality education to toddlers and pre-school children.

Start with a great foundation

The Richmond Co-operative Nursery School’s mission is to create a positive foundation for your child’s first learning. We provide our students with the opportunity to experiment using play based learning incorporating art, music and basic educational skills they will need moving forward. We provide a safe and inclusive environment for them to develop socially, emotionally, physically and creatively. Being a community school, the children also build relationships with their peers that will carry-on in to junior kindergarten.

Health and Safety

At the Richmond Co-operative Nursery School, we strive to provide a safe and healthy environment for our students. We encourage healthy snack options for all our students and maintain strict hyhygien standards. We encourage frequenthand washing and we disinfect tabletops and toys regularly.
